Frequently Asked QuestionsImmerse FAQs
Is this the whole Bible (New Testament, etc.)?
Yes, it is simply the text of the Holy Bible, New Living Translation with brief introductions to each book. Nothing has been added or eliminated from the Bible text. The only alterations have been to remove all of the modern additives of chapters, verses, notes, etc.
Can we use regular bibles instead?
More importantly, the format matters to the experience. Removing the chapter and verse numbers and restoring the natural breaks and literary formats changes how your students interact with the text. Presenting the text in a more familiar format, like other books we are accustomed to reading, encourages reading books as whole books, letters as entire letters, and poetry as poetry. It’s what the authors originally intended.
Can we just use the audio edition and not buy a book?
You’re free to use whichever resources on this site are helpful to you, and many people have found the Immerse audio edition to an excellent audio Bible.
That said, to truly transform your classroom experience we highly encourage purchasing the physical book. Many students and teachers say the new format makes all the difference, and it will form the backbone of a new reading experience for your class.
Why the NLT? Is this available in other translations?
The NLT is regarded by many as the best reading translation available today. Set at a 6th grade reading level, it is a highly accessible translation with over 30 contributing scholars. Immerse is not available in other translations.
Are the four discussion prompts the only questions we can use?
Not at all. We’ve found that they open the door for honest student reflection because there are no right or wrong answers, but feel free to take the discussion any direction you want based on your learning objectives.
Is Immerse available in other languages?
Yes. Immerse is currently available in Spanish.

Should Students have access to this?
No, this is a resource meant to help teachers prepare and teach their Bible class. You are of course free to use the site to play audio and video during class, but students should not be creating their own user accounts to access Immerse for Schools.
What do parents and administrators think of this?
Some parents and administrators have been unsure about teachers modifying their Bible class around Immerse rather than the “normal way” of teaching Bible.
However, by the middle of the semester, they’ve seen the student’s reactions and many of them ask if they can sit in on the class.
What if my class schedule doesn't fit with 8 or 16-week plans?
Immerse was created for those two timelines, so the audio and video materials adhere to those schedules. However, feel free to adapt the reading plan and accompanying resources however you need for your teaching schedule.
