Immerse for Schools
How it worksIT STARTS WITH
A New Kind Of Bible
Immerse: The Reading Bible is a six-volume Bible created with one goal in mind: to provide the best reading experience possible. The text is laid out in a single-column setting with chapter and verse numbers, section headings, and footnotes removed, and with the content of each book displayed according to its literary genre.
Each book includes a historical and literary introduction to set the scene and immerse your students in the Bible’s story. In some cases, books are presented in a new order for a better cover-to-cover reading experience.
8 or 16-Week
Flexible Lesson Plans
Since every school has different semester structures and schedules, Immerse for Schools includes two different lesson plan schedules for each volume of Immerse.
Using either the 8 or 16-week plan, your class will read through a major section of the Bible together, like the New Testament or the Torah.
Of course, these schedules are meant to serve as a starting point for planning your semester. Feel free to adapt them as needed.

Activities, Assessments, and Prep Materials
How do you adapt a small group experience into a high school Bible class? Although Immerse is a simple concept, reconfiguring your class around it can sometimes be tricky.
Immerse for Schools provides some ideas to get you started. Now that your class will lean heavily on the reading and discussion of the Bible text, you have the opportunity to introduce new ways of assessing students’ participation and comprehension of the material.
Also included is a list recommended resources to help you prepare to teach, plus some ideas for activities to keep class from becoming too one-dimensional.
Components Included in Each Lesson Plan
Outline and Discussion Prompts
Each day of the lesson plan includes the page range covered, the notable event/issues in the reading, and some content-specific discussion prompts you can use to guide the conversation in class.
Video
Immerse Weekly Videos: At the beginning of each week (or every-other week for the 16-week plan) a brief animated video will act as a ‘trailer’ for the upcoming week’s reading.
BibleProject Videos: Where pertinent, videos from BibleProject are also included within the daily lesson plans.
Audio
Immerse Audio Edition: A custom audio version of Immerse, recorded according to the reading schedule. Some teachers have students listen to the audio edition during class.
Streetlights Audio Edition: An alternate audio version of the NLT, read over a contemporary urban soundtrack
